Steliau Technology – France introduces Cincon’s CQM60W medical-certified DC-DC converters.
The new Cincon CQM60W series represents a major advancement in DC-DC power conversion for medical applications. It delivers a high output power of 60 W in a compact quarter-brick format compliant with industry standards.
Its distinguishing feature is reinforced isolation, providing 5000 Vac input-to-output isolation, ensuring compliance with IEC/UL 60601-1 3rd Edition and 2 MOPP (Means of Patient Protection) safety requirements.
To meet the wide range of voltage requirements of modern medical instruments, the series offers a broad input voltage range (9–36 Vdc) and a comprehensive selection of regulated outputs:
- single outputs: 5, 12, 15, and 24 Vdc
- dual outputs: ±12 Vdc and ±15 Vdc
The series also delivers excellent efficiency, reaching up to 93.5%, a key factor for thermal stability in compact enclosures.
Exceptional performance
Designed to meet the stringent demands of medical environments, the CQM60W series excels in parameters critical to patient safety and system reliability.
Optimized for Type CF (Cardiac Floating) applications, it features an extremely low touch leakage current (< 4.5 µA), making it suitable for devices in direct contact with patients.
From a system integration perspective, this series stands out with a fast output voltage rise time, typically 15 ms—about twice as fast as many competing models (~30 ms).
It is also designed to operate under harsh conditions, with an ambient temperature range of –40 °C to +105 °C and operation up to 5000 m altitude, ensuring consistent performance in hospital environments or mobile medical units.
Comprehensive protections
The Cincon CQM60W series emphasizes system reliability and patient safety through 5000 Vac I/O isolation and IEC/UL 60601-1 3rd Edition (2× MOPP) certification.
It integrates auto-recovery protection mechanisms against:
- over-temperature (OTP),
- over-current (OCP),
- over-voltage (OVP),
- under-voltage lockout (UVLO),
- short-circuit (SCP).
The design also ensures high immunity to electromagnetic interference, compliant with EN 60601-1-2, guaranteeing reliable operation in electrically noisy medical environments.
Applications
Optimized for Type CF applications with ultra-low leakage current, these converters provide an ideal power solution for safety-critical medical systems. They reliably power advanced imaging equipment such as digital X-ray systems, CT scanners, and MRI systems.
Their high level of isolation also provides an essential safety barrier for invasive and therapeutic devices, including hemodialysis machines, electrosurgical units, microwave/RF ablation generators, and cardiac ablation systems, as well as high-precision platforms such as endoscopes and surgical robotics.
